| It keeps occurring to me--just little whispers at times--to "listen," listen to the earth, listen to what it is saying. The
feeling-knowing is that the earth is going through a
transformation, part of it brought on because of humans'
foolishness and ignorance, part of it because it is time to change.
I keep having the feeling that the earth is trying to say something to us, but people aren't listening. We continue to pollute, abuse, consume, exploit, struggle, fight, and be separate. It is not just greed, but the way that governments and nations go about doing business. It is the way of control. Humans imagine that they are in control and sitting on top of everything, yet cannot understand why Nature brings about destruction.
It is time for humans to take more of a humble position and realize that they are part of the earth, the synergy, and they have a very direct effect on how that evolves. When we kill and destroy, the earth simply reflects that through its own destruction. As humans move into a war mode, the earth does likewise; it takes out vegetation. Strange things happen, and humans try to come up with simple excuses for them, but all of the explanations seem to be shallow, the means to what is happening, and not the "why" of it.
There is a strong feeling that the earth is trying to speak to humanity, saying, "Listen up, pay attention; there is a price to be paid for this ignorance, this separateness, and not only will this generation suffer the consequences, but future generations will also."
I am not an alarmist about it. I just see it as a natural change. I have always observed that if humans do not pay attention, if humans continue in a greedy, selfish, controlling way, the earth eventually rebels. The earth brings about events that force humans to pay attention: earthquakes, disasters, hurricanes, floods, destruction. All of these things are symptoms of a stressed system. And humans, by their activities, their separateness, their near-sightedness, tend to be the greatest stressors.
When humanity lives in a state of compassion and cooperation, the earth will too. But right now humans are being very non- cooperative, very self-centered, very survival-obsessed, and so the earth is reflecting that. The earth is holding back. The earth is simply reflecting the consensus reality, the morphic field that humans are creating.
The bark beetles take all the trees they want. The same with the marshlands; whatever is destroying the vegetation there is taking whatever it wants, just as nations and governments are doing; just as humans are doing. The earth is simply reflecting the conditional, hypnotized human. This situation presents an opportunity, for those who are wise, to see this connection, to pay attention to it. Maybe nothing can be done about it at this point, but it is like anything else: once you have an awareness of something, it begins to change.
The earth is saying, "I can no longer support the inhabitants." So it begins systematically to eliminate inhabitants. Humans should pay attention, because they might be next on the list. We already have more strange diseases and afflictions cropping up all the time. We will probably see more of that as long as humans continue in their separative, greedy, self-centered mode.
On the other hand, there are no mistakes, no accidents. Life has some purpose in all of this. Life is making use of this situation which is compelling the new species of humanity to come forward.
